Director
Zoe Pepper
A writer and director with a background in theatre, Zoe brings an unusually strong instinct for performance to screen. The kind of director who gets great work out of talent. Her debut feature Birthright premiered at Tribeca 2025, screening at Sydney Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival. She directed the romantic comedy web series Lift for Network 10, and co-wrote and directed The Big Spaghetti, which screened at Slamdance and earned her an Australian Director's Guild Award for Best Short Form Comedy Series. She wrote on the Lionsgate/Stan thriller-comedy series Population 11 for Jungle Entertainment. Trained at AFTRS, WAAPA, and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris. Her theatre work is Helpmann nominated and has played at the Sydney Opera House and Dark Mofo Festival. Much of it was developed collaboratively, writing with actors over long creative relationships. That process shows in how she works on screen. Zoe directs with a strong focus on performance and character. She's comfortable with comedy, naturalistic drama, and anything that hinges on casting and connection.
